We were honored to welcome Abby Lee Miller, TV personality, dance educator, and passionate advocate for accessibility, for a tour of our gardens and historic Main House yesterday. 🌿🏛️

Abby explored the beauty of Planting Fields and spent time learning about the work we’ve been doing to make our grounds more accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities. ♿️

the addition of over 2,000 linear feet of ADA accessible paved pathways to thoughtful wayfinding design updates and the inclusion of multilingual maps, we’re committed to making Planting Fields a place where everyone can experience nature, history, and connection — comfortably and confidently.

It was a joy to share our progress with someone who continues to use her voice to promote awareness and inclusion in public spaces. 🌸

Encircling our beautiful Main Staircase, you may have noticed the peculiar, designed railing. Hidden in plain sight is an elongated two-headed serpent, affixed to the staircase walls with its claws—forever bringing a sense of Early Modern whimsy into this Tudor Revival style home, as figures of dragons and/or serpents were a prominent one within the folklore of the Early Modern times within England. 🐍🏰 ⁠
